                                      Worm Care

*Have a home for your  worms before you order. Plastic bins, drums cut
in half, coolers, worm factories. Peat moss is probably the easy worm
bedding to get .

* Peat moss needs to be soaked at least 24 hrs. before it will be ready for
your worms. I like to soak mind for 48 hrs. mixing it occasionally to make
sure it is throughly soak.

* Test the moisture of your peat moss by taking a hand full and
squeezing it in your fist. You should 1 to 2 drops of water between your
fingers. If the water runs out of you fist its to wet.  Add some dry peat
moss and mix it in to get the right moisture.

* Temperature  is a very important factor in raising red worms. Keep
them between 68 and 78 degrees for  peak production.

* Here are some more bedding materials you can use : cardboard,
newspaper, shredded paper, composted horse manure, composted
rabbit manure. Make sure your manures are well composted to keep
from heating and killing your worms.

* Feed : You can top feed the manures above without composting.  Top
feed chicken laying pellets or any grain feed. Don't mix it in you bedding
it will heat up and possibly kill you worms. Kitchen scraps avoid meats
and greases.
